- There is now a consensus in politics, science and the public that social innovation is critical to addressing current and future societal challenges such as the aging of society and climate change. Technological innovations alone can not solve these complex problems. Societal challenges call for social change in the governance of processes and in the processes for involving civil society actors. Sustainable networks and the creative potential of urban society are of lasting importance here.On May 2nd, 2019 we invite you to the Kino Atlantis in Mannheim in K2 from 6 pm to celebrate the inclusion of Mannheim in the ESER initiative (European Social Economy Regions), to introduce the local partners of the Social Economy and Welfare and the Social Economy Roadmap Mannheim 2019 to present.Amongst others, Dr. Engelmann, Head of Department Advanced Technologies, Clusters and Social Economy at DG GROW of the EU Commission, who will explain the European perspective of the importance of social innovation. The city of Mannheim wants to act locally as the driver of these innovations. Musically the program is supported by Johanna Alba, a singer-songwriter from the Popakademie Mannheim. The event will be moderated by Lale Jakob. The kick-off will be rounded off with a get-together in the cinema foyer with enough time for networking.
