Startup Lounge

The MCEI Startup Lounge is your place to get inspired to create something new and to meet and mingle with the Mannheim Startup Ecosystem. Meet startups and creative minds to discuss great ideas in a laid-back atmosphere. Every Startup Lounge features an inspirational talk by a (usually early-stage) venture to get the discussion going and has some budget to cover drinks (provided by either MCEI or one of our co-feature partners). Join us if you are into startups and want to expand your network in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region and live the entrepreneurial spirit.

What to expect?

Every Startup Lounge starts with an opportunity to network. You can meet new people and start conversations about your entrepreneurial ambitions over a drink. After everybody made themselves comfortable, MCEI features a startup on stage to pitch and provide insights into their current challenges. After the pitch there is always the opportunity to ask questions and give advice. Startup Lounges rest on the principle of paying it forward and serendipity. Thus, the Startup Lounges provide a platform for startups to obtain feedback and forge connections to advance. You can usually expect early-stage startups sharing their story from which you can learn a lot for your own entrepreneurial path. After the talk, we proceed with open networking. Benefit from getting to know (angel) investors, founders and many other actors from the Startup Ecosystem and share your own contacts to help others advance.

Date and Venue?

We are regularly meeting every other Tuesday during the University of Mannheim semester (February-June; September-December) at 7:30pm in Café Agata @Lindenhof (Mafinex B, Julius-Hatry-Straße 1, 68163 Mannheim). Make sure to check the information on our website and follow our Facebook feed and events for updates.

How to join?

Just stop by! Spontaneous visitors are absolutely welcome and there is no reservation required. Some exceptions might apply regarding our Seed Award and Pitch Battle Specials, when we suggest you to RSVP.

How long has the Startup Lounge been around?

We held the first Startup Lounge on November 19, 2013, and had a great development ever since. We have welcomed many amazing founders from all over the world as guests in the Startup Lounge and were able to connect many students, founders, and investors over the past years. It has been an honor to celebrate our 50th Startup Lounge with all of you in 2018 and we are looking forward to many more inspiring events. You can find more information on the Startup Lounge history and individual events below. Enjoy reading!
