Startup Lounge #52 - Pitch Battle - Review

We closed the spring semester Startup Lounge season with a special event – the final round of a Pitch Battle between the best startups from our classes MAN633 and MAN453. The Café L3 was packed with spectators as an excited crowd witnessed the finalists´ pitches. A jury pre-selected the three finalists in the forerun from 11 teams by evaluating the Startups´ pitch decks according to their professional opinion. Each member casted their opinion individually and the aggregated feedback determined the finalists.

Aunty Emma´s was the first pitch of the evening. Aunty Emma´s offers freshly pre-assembled ingredient packages to cook at home. Busy business people can enjoy a homemade dinner finished in less than 15 minutes and with less than 10 easy steps. Striving for utmost customer convenience, Aunty Emma's distributes its meal kits where its customers are: service clusters and industrial parks.

The next candidate, BusinessBoost, is a way for professionals to market their services efficiently and effectively with minimal effort. It is an intuitive platform for professionals (currently realtors) which simplifies online advertising creation and management. The goal is to serve many other demographics (lawyers, doctors, advisors, small businesses, restaurants) in the future and help them familiarize themselves with online advertising so they can realize the potential of social media and online advertising.

Finally, CareerTerminal delivered their idea to the jury and the crowd. CareerTerminal is dedicated to supporting German craft companies in recruiting specialists from other EU countries. In addition to introducing firms to potential employees, it ensures that people get a long-term perspective in Germany through language courses, housing and consultation. The team wants to build an online platform that makes it easy to find the right job anywhere.

After three amazing pitches, it was the jury´s move to give their feedback and determine the winner. In the end, Career Terminal convinced the jury the most and achieved the first place. The second place went to BusinessBoost followed by Aunty Emma´s in third place.

Special thanks to the jury for their effort and professional judgement of the ideas. We would also like to thank all participating Startups for their effort and their great ideas. Last but not least thanks to the Café L3 for hosting another great event and making the time most enjoyable for our guests.
