PALATINA - The local Business Angels Association

Thanks to excellent municipal and private funding institutions, universities, research and production networks, the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region is increasingly becoming one of the most important hotspots for innovative company founders in Germany. The German Startup Monitor (DSM) 2020 currently comes to the conclusion that no other larger location in Germany is rated better by founders than Mannheim.

Since the beginning of the year, an association for business angels has been established in the local region, which supports founders with venture capital, but also with experience, with advice, action and connections (“networking”).

The new PALATINA Business Angels Rhein-Neckar e.V. promotes the exchange and association of already active, experienced, but also merely interested supporters. Individuals and companies are invited to join in order to promote the start-up and financing culture in our greater region.

PLATINA sees networking startups, business angels and other investors as an essential task. For this purpose, PALATINA organizes - with the support of private individuals, banks, lawyers, tax consultants, companies and other institutions - so-called "pitch events" at which founders introduce themselves within a few minutes. At the end of the meeting there is an opportunity to exchange ideas “over a glass of wine”.

For the first time, on the evening of September 2nd, start-up founders and association members came together in the Mannheim premises of the “SZA Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft” to take part in the first PALATINA pitch event. Another 30 interested parties took part via video. After a welcome by the chairperson Dr. Rolf Neuhaus and Andreas Lukic followed a brief presentation of the law firm SZA, which has been committed to starters and investors for a long time.

Then three startups from the areas of “eCommerce / Fashion”, “Healthcare / Cybersecurity” and “Logistics / Mobile Apps” presented themselves via Lifestream. Each startup explained its idea within five minutes. The respective pitch was followed by a seven-minute question and answer session with the investors / interested parties.

Another hybrid pitch event from the NEXT-MANNHEIM start-up center C-HUB followed on October 6th. Five young companies introduced themselves, over 30 interested people followed the event on the Internet. The next “pitch” will take place on November 19th.

The pitch event will therefore not be an individual event. A regular monthly rhythm is planned: The next but one PALATINA Business Angels event will then take place in mid-January at 6 p.m. Interested parties, also for November 19th, please contact
