Tattoo platform STYNG closes Pre-Seed round of financing STYNG
  • Tattoo platform STYNG secures first round of financing
  • The L-Bank leads this round as an institutional investor and invests together with business angels and the Orangery Deutschland GmbH a medium six-digit number

Karlsruhe, August 2019 – STYNG, an online platform for finding and booking the perfect tattoo artist, announced its first round of financing. The L-Bank leads this round as an institutional investor and invests together with business angels and the Orangery Deutschland GmbH a medium six-digit number in the start-up, which was founded in 2018 in Karlsruhe.

STYNG is part of the multi-billion-dollar market for tattoos, which gained more and more importance and credibility within the last decades. Long gone are the times, when tattoos were only for sailors, soldiers and criminals. Instead they lost nearly all of their bad reputation and became an important part of today’s culture. A recent study (2016) from the University of Leipzig shows, that almost half the women (44%) between 25 and 34 in Germany already have at least one tattoo. Men are close behind with 42%.1

STYNG is an online platform, which connects tattoo enthusiasts with the right artist. Tattooists and shop owners have the opportunity to create a profile and display their work in a professional way. Tattoo fans, on the other hand, can search through the offers with different filter criterion and thereby find the right artist with just a few clicks.

Felix Marmann, CEO and Co-Founder stated regarding the funding: "We are very happy, that we closed our first substantial round of financing. This gives us the opportunity to build up a team, optimize our processes and improve the website. We are especially glad, that our investors do not only provide us with ‘Cold Capital’, but instead strive to be our partners and really support us with their expertise."

One of these partners is serial founder Dominik Groenen, who recently launched the Orangery Labs. He commented on the fresh capital: "I am proud, that Orangery Germany could now realize its second deal within two weeks. Since I am a passionate tattoo lover myself, the business model of STYNG instantly caught my attention. In fact, I wanted to start a venture in this industry a couple years ago, too! The current round of financing by the L-Bank, fantastic business angels and us, is a great success for Baden-Württemberg and the Orangery in Lower Saxony. I support this start-up with all my heart, and I am excited for the journey of the next years with Felix, Jonas and Florian."

About STYNG

The STYNG GmbH was founded in 2018 by Florian Geimer, Felix Marmann and Jonas Winnen. The three founders are big time tattoo fans and aim to make their passion their profession with this start-up. They experienced many times, how intransparent and inefficient this industry still is today. This gave them the motivation to found STYNG. On its way, the start-up got a lot of support from the CyberLab, a tech incubator in Karlsruhe. At the time of writing, eight team members are working for this young company.
