AirBnB, Snapchat, Delivery Hero – everybody is talking about startups and nobody could imagine a life without their products. But how does the process of starting a startup work and what really matters when you plan on turning your business idea into reality? Dr. Alex von Frankenberg, managing director of Hightech Gründerfonds (HTGF), answers all of these questions and gives an insight into the German startup scene in his guest lecture, followed by get-together in the coffee lounge L3.
HTGF is Germany’s largest early-stage investor and funds young tech companies, E-Commerce as well as medtech start-ups. The HTGF is supported by the German government and several well-known companies. With its fund size of around 576 Mio Euro it has already helped more than 400 startups to make their way into business, among them success stories such as Outfittery and Mister Spex.
Dr. Alex von Frankenberg responible for investments in Mobile, E-Commerce and Software at HTGF. Before taking that position in October 2005 he was responsible for spin-offs as Venture Manager at the Siemens Technology Accelerator. Alex holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin (1992) and a PhD from the University of Mannheim (1997).
